Trials competition.

With a quiet few months in the forums, out of the blue, my German friends that are collectively known as MuttisLieblinge-Trialsprojektz, are bringing a kick arse custom track building competition. I say this because of the prizes that these guys are putting up.

1st - Monty Kamel BMX bike, 4200 msp, Hoodie and a controller.

2nd - Hoodie, 2400 msp, and a controller.

3rd - Hoodie, and a controller.

and the list goes on.

What awesome prizes. These guys have a real passion for the game and building. I've had a few of the guys on my Friends List since trials HD. This is how close we keep our friends on this game. Every builder who is highly rated by others will always have a full friends list of other top builders. Its easier this way for us all to keep up to date with the very latest, best tracks.
I put together a promo video for the competition. All details of the links to the competition thread, are in the video description.
Trials fusion.

With there being so much unrest and doubt a month ago over the future of the Trials brand we all love, Then came the E-3 announcement of Trials Fusion. The third game in the series that is on a console, but this time its going to be multi-platform and next gen.
As any Trials nut would tell you, or at least from my point, i hoped that the E-3 would bring this news.I even anticipated that it would be a multi platform game too.My feelings are that this is where UBISOFT might have played their key part. Now that Redlynx have, in essence, teamed with ubisoft, this has certainly opened many more doors for them as a business. This is only a good thing for trials fans alike, as it should bring in more revenue from a wider audience, which will hopefully keep bringing trials games. So, in terms of this partnership,I say just keep doing what your doing.
So, trials fusion as been ear-marked as a 2014 release. This got me thinking a little.I thought 'what would be a good release date,or i wonder when its due?'
Well, i have my own thoughts on this, but what do you think?
This new trials game is coming with a new 'trick' system, which probably got a bit of a bad reception at first glance from the most die hard fans of trials.I admit that i myself went on twitter and posted about the trick system, and that i didn't know whether or not it would be a good idea.Well, the more iv'e thought about it, the more iv'e come round to the idea. And lets face it, when had Redlynx ever let us down before. They have won awards for their work, so i just can't see them ruining a fantastic brand. The team are awesome at what they do.I have nothing but total faith in them.

There is no point in Redlynx as a business, repeating what they have already.I'm certain that once people start to play the new trials with it's tricks, then they wont look back.To me, its 'Added fun' and people need to stop worrying. After all, there are tracks in track central that are skill based, so it's not massively different.

So all in all, 2014 Trials Fusion will be another winner for redlynx, And also will get a million more players and fans alike.
Thankyou guys.
You've got me for another few years..
Builders still building ???

Is A Minority enough??

As a Trials Evolution builder and rider, its a sad fact to see that there has been alot of talented, and creative minded people that have now stopped playing trials all together. From my point of playing trials, i really enjoyed it more when there was a real love and buzz for the game from others, as this is what kept me motivated in learning and building faster and more often. But as the old saying goes, 'all good things come to an end', for alot of trials fans, this is the case.Gone are the days of a track receiving over a hundred a fifty thousand downloads. Nowadays, a great track will get around ten thousand or so.

All this said though, there are still a handful of builders that do continue to build to a high standard. Some weeks will see twenty or so tracks in track central. When i say twenty or so, i'm talking about great tracks, and not just the average track. So its good to see that there are a few of us that still enjoy to build, and ride each others tracks. Now we are the 'minority', most of us know who each other is, and have become good friends through the redlynx forum. I suppose that this is probably one of the reasons that we still build, knowing that there are others like yourself. I still enjoy trials a hell of alot, and i have no thoughts to 'retire' as the saying goes. I recently won a PVR HD, which is a recording device, and i have plans to do some projects within the redlynx forum, and on behalf of the community just like the 'Speedrun and Ninja run of the week' series that myself and retribution are working on. So although it's never going to be like it was on its release, there is still a big enough audience of the game, to continue playing and building custom tracks. I just hope that 'Trials Evolution' keeps enough life in the game for the next six months or so at least, and that people still continue to enjoy it as much as what i do myself. For me, once i stop playing trials, that will be the day i stop playing on my xbox.
This is a video of my latest track, which i called 'Natures Way'.

Whats happening.

Just wanted to take some time and write a proper post on my new trials evolution feature, which has just started very recently.Myself and Retribution decided to work together and do a collaborated, joint series in the trials forum community. While he had the idea, the know how, etc, i brought the video editing part to the team.

Up to now, we have released just 2 episodes, and they have both been received by other trials evolution riders, very well. Its done really well for us, and that the community are starting to really get into it, and leave good feedback as well as some great ideas on content. We hope to continue to this project for as long as the interest is there. If your one of these riders or trials evolution fans that like the series, then please give a like where ever you see a like icon. This then tells us that people do want to see it.

Here is the playlist of the series up to now.check out the skills of these riders. As i like to say, "they are on another level"

This last week.

The 18th saw the final day of the anniversary custom competition. The winners video was done, and released at 10 P.M

U.K. time. There was prizes for the last 5 places, but in 3rd was Loot Monkey, 2nd came FLYER80, and in first place was SmEgHeAd89 with his track Farm Trials. Here is the video montage for the winners places....

A deserved win i think you'll all agree.I totally understand that not everyone will agree on the decision. We would live in a weird world if that was the case.I will try to explain it a little. over the scoring, and how it was done.

There were five judges, that had to mark down scores on certain criteria. The scores were from 1 to 10 on some, and 1 to 15 on others.Under a score heading of 'Atmosphere', there were another 4 sub-criteria.This was also the case for the Drive-Line too.Under the Drive-Line criteria, 2 of the sub-criteria were the 1 to 15 scores. This was the used this way because the competition was classed as a 'True Trials' competition, and we all felt that there should have been a lean in favour of the driving line. The best way to describe this is a 60/40 ratio.
Even though this was the case,it would have never affected the outcome.5 judges giving their scores on what they felt met certain things, would have made it different and mixed up anyways. We all know and understand how to score, so this was not a problem.
After each of us scored each track, they were all gathered together. Then each of the sub-criteria were all accounted for and totalled and then everything was worked out as an average. This was done so there was no question as to why the scores were the way they were. Also, there is no doubt that all judges would have had different totals for each track. At the end of the day, we all have our own tastes in tracks, which is why 5 judges worked out.
From my point, and scoring, i personally had tied places right the way through.1st place i had 2 tied. 2nd and 3rd
place i had 3 tied, and they tied on different things to.But, i knew the other judges scores would make this sort itself out.As it turned out, it did.The builders really pulled it out of the bag in terms of quality. It put pressure on us to make sure we got it correct.None of us actually knew who or what the places were until the numbers were done. When i received the winners list, and place positions, it was a little supprising to see, but i'm in no doubt that the places were given in a true and honest fashion.I was absolutely not going to change my mind as to scores, or start to adjust scores. That did not happen at all.I played every track at least 10 times before i give my score.I planned it out from the start that i was going to do it this way.Play the all tracks the same, then score the track, and stick to my first choice.Doing it like this meant the scores were done right for sure, and i for one got peace of mind.It was a mountain of a task though, because of all the superb entries.so, my hat goes off to you all as builders.
I know what its like to apply yourself into a great build. Its time consuming. You don't sleep, eat or breathe without thinking about your track your creating. It really burns you out.So, in my eyes, and i know this might come across as a massive cliche, but, everyone who took part is a winner. You truly should be proud..
 Making a better YouTube Channel.

Video Editing.

Iv'e been doing alot of research this last week into YouTube, and it's new look, and how can i make this work for my channel better. Not only for myself, but for all my followers too. After all, Its them that make your channel a success.

Firstly, You need to offer a service that people want. Its a general rule in business, so let us use it on here because the strategies are the same.Your trying to capture a 'market', as in business. As a one topic channel, this is going to be a hundred times harder as it doesn't offer much in variety. Take my channel. Its a dedicated channel to a computer game. This has been done a thousand times before, so now i need to make it as unique as i can. What can i do that is different from other gaming channels? So my quest begins.

This has brought to to my next point. It is referred to as 'branding'.For me then, i 'brand' my videos by using images, art and animated intros to every video i now put out.I try to make it look as proffessional as i possibly can, but at no cost.I do this by using some great google+ Applications, and they are all free.My main few that i use are:-

Pixlr editor.(excellent for creating great images and wallpapers)

Pixlr express.(For use of touching up and polishing my work)

Google drive.(this is where i keep everything together, and also great for using the app features with the drive itself.Google drawing for example)

Google images.(Ideal for giving some inspiration to an idea).

These are the main ones i use.I also use all of these within my blogger, which is also from google. As with Youtube, its all linked, and kept together for easy access. This is ideal for me as i'm still learning in terms of video editing e.t.c.

There are loads of examples of this in the intros to peoples videos. That is where you will get the views and subs you want within the first 5 seconds of your video. If it's neat and tidy, and stands out from others, then your on your way.

http://www.youtube.com/yt/playbook/index.html

This is an example of using a different, or as unique of an idea to do with my blog topic as possible. Its a video of the in game bike, 'The Gecko'.. I have focused all the video especially one this.

A Gecko only track montage.

The A.C.C. has ended. All tracks have been submitted as the track builders wait patiently for the results to be released.Being a judge on the panel was not an easy task.Out of the 38 or so entries,i can honestly say that the standard, and quality of the tracks were all excellent.I can see how some builders have really put there creative skills to hand, as i was pleasantly shocked by a few entries because of their quality.Everything done so neat, ranging from the atmosphere, to the driving lines. The only thing i was surprised at, was the lack of the sound source that wasn't used. Alot of the builders lost a mark for not using this.Because the standard was so high, our judging had to be also.We took every factor into account, which included sound.we had to.This makes it alot more fair right across the board.
I just hope that once the results are out, everyone is happy with them, and congratulate the winners like true trials riders would do.Its that close to call, that all the builders should be proud of their achievement in making this competition one to remember.

Wearing it with pride..

Just,awesome

This is a day that will stick with me forever.20th October 2012.Who would have thought it would cause so much controversy.I talking about the True Fan award.
I didn't ever think i would get one this quick or even at all.I remember in the first episode, seeing the other guys getting theirs, and i thought then,
"i want one..What can i do to earn one?"

Well, i just went on an offensive, but in a quiet way.I had already started on montages for the community,so i just increased my work load.I also offered my services in the forum.I offered to do images and videos for anyone that wanted them.I even started to post a comical series of images, but with my head on the body of things. I thought, this will show people that i have a sense of humour, that i don't take myself serious, and that RedLynx might see them, and look at what i'm up to in general. It must have worked.I set out to get one, and made sure that i was in with a chance.
I got up that day, and on my twitter was a message from E.F. saying,

"Drop everything,Watch R.L.T.V NOW."

At first, i thought i was to do with the D.L.C. but then i saw my name.I thought,

"wow, they have shown my youtube channel on R.L.T.V."

And then, cannibal mentioned True Fan awards. My name was right at the top of the list.Probably meant nothing being at the top, but not to me.I was so over joyed at that point. When i think about it now, and i remember, i still get shivers down my spine..

But then this.

Unfortunately, i went into the forums as i did everyday, to an eruption of other riders kicking off that it should not have been done this way. There were statements like,"Why should only a few youtubers get it when there are loads of them out there."

The worst part is, i could understand their point, but at the same time, i questioned whether it was right that some people would go about it the way they did.I felt like i didn't deserve it.I knew there were others in the forum that have been around for a good few more years than me.At that point, i had been part of the forum for 2 years.People presumed i had only just joined when trials evo' came out.I know this due to getting told it.It was a mixture of ups and downs on that day.All i could do is hold my head up high, and carry on doing what i was doing. So that is exactly what i did.Its still an award that will always carry it controversy, but that's the same with anything.I also know that there are still 1 or 2 people out there that hate the fact of how the T.F's were given out, or rather, why they weren't given to them...

I'm also glad that 99% of the people and community tell me that in their opinions, they think i really, truly deserve it.Im so glad about this, because i would hate any ill feeling over this still.Since then, there have been more true fans awarded, and a few who have got it since are my mates, and others i have become mates with. This i am really happy about.

Thankyou RedLynx, for everything you have done for me.You even supported me when i got some really bad news,at the time i got my T.F. and this i will truly never forget. As i wont forget our weekly races with shifty samurai,we had a blast right? Also your a top fella mate.I know the real you.And you put up with alot from everyone, who i also now consider a good, true friend.Cheers shift..

And to cannibal shogun,The poor guy i would taunt on twitter,i would never stop tweeting, and bugged to bits to the point he would just give in.
.Then he kicked my arse on R.L.T.V. in a race off..Another good friend..cheers John.
And To all the team at R.L. officially from me to you all, thankyou.

If you didn't already know about this, then your going to now. The university was founded by an astute, and avid trials rider by the name of 'Fatshady' or who he is now named as, the professor. This guy has many accolades to his name.True Fan being a familiar one, but also, this is the guy,( or one of the few), who actually solved the Riddle that was in the Trials H.D game.Check out this video for more on the riddle.

What can you say to that. All the time and effort devoted to this alone would have took hours and hours. As a student of the University, i am so impressed at the dedication shown. Its an inspiration that has urge me to perssue my Hobby even more once i watched this.
All this said, brings me straight back to the main topic. The professor didn't stop there. After visiting the holy ground that is Helsinki, and wrestled with a guru called 'ANBA', the proff' had more things he wanted to do.This is where his destiny started to unfold. He designed some unofficial wallpapers for Trials Evolution, which everyone has used hundreds of times on places like youtube. What a joy it must be to see that so many trialer's out there from all over the world are using something that you created. If it was i, then i would be extremely proud. He has certainly become a key Fan of the game.He has also done things to help my youtube channel by making me a video intro to all my trials related stuff. He is a genuine, kind guy who just happens to like trials.

If your reading this, then chances are you are a fan of the game too. Well, all i can say is to follow the links that i am going to leave. Check out this new, unique concept and become a better rider as the professor takes us through more tutorials on how to be the best that we can.

My friends from Germany.

I thought to myself that there's no way i'm doing a blog on trials evolution, without giving a mention to some great friends, new and old, that are from Germany. As it stands, there are probably 12 or so now that have totally made friends with each other, and brought some really nice track builds to track central. I've known at least 4 of the guys since Trials HD and have had them on my friends list ever since. Always play tracks that iv'e built, and give feedback over this last few years, as have i to them. The forum and the more active members, have a mutual respect for each other. Its all part of the game, and with building especially.I like to think that there;s an unwritten rule between the forum community members. It's like a code of practice. Its down to showing respect for your fellow builders. After all, we all strive for the same things. We love to build, and love to play trials on a daily basis.

Some of the German lads have recently teamed up and done some team building tracks. This is where you share 1 account between a certain few. I myself have collaberated on a team account and built a track. It was with the 'sons of trials' team, which is owned by barrybarfly, and Nas T 65 is his kind of partner on the account. Its a great way to learn different techniques when it comes to building because you all bring your strengths to the table. So long as your able to give and take, then it runs sweetly. The teams that have come from my German friends up to date are called :-
A few of the Redlynx forum members have got together in an effort to keep all trials riders on xbox well entertained this summer, and possibly beyond. Myself and a fellow 'TRUEFAN', vladiiiii, are starting up our own community driven trials evolution channel very soon. I'm just waiting to receive my P.V.R capture device, which i won in a competition a few weeks ago.We plan to do live streaming sessions through my Twitch-TV account,Competitions, special guests in a party up and play, highs and lows of the week, and much, much more.I know that there are other you-tubers out there that are already doing something similar, but our unique point is that its all about the riders and active forum members.I will come up with a rota nearer the time, and give a month by month timetable of whats happening, and to who is taking part.I will keep this updated as soon as i know for a fact as to when i can officially announce it. I hope that people get involved, and help to make it something special as i'm sure it will be.
I like to be involved with anything that goes on in the forums when it concerns us all. I see the community as a big and happy group, as we all share one important thing.Trials Evolution.
One great channel has started up already. Its aimed at the more skilled riders, and it headed by a well known trialer, and T.F. 'Retribution'. We both got talking not so long back, and today he released his first episode of whats looking like its going to be a great feature. Its called 'Speedrun/Ninja run of the week'.I just helped with the video editing side of it, and its run totally by retribution. He has a youtube channel full of trials content.Check out the link for more.
How To Build A Good Track.

A building guide.

This is my own opinions, and how i set about building tracks.

As Custom track builders, we take it serious. For a majority of trials forum goers, Building a GREAT track is a lot of trialers ambitions. I would say that 90% of the people that visit the forum, and stay active, are purely there for the building aspect, and to learn. There is just one problem that we all overlook. Everyone has their own opinions as to what makes a great track, and everybody builds differently. Some will say that its decoration, others will say the driving line.Well, as far as I'm concerned, its a mixture of both, but also, lighting and atmosphere play a key roll too. Even sound could spoil a track if not used at all, or used in a stupid manner, that doesn't make sense. I'm not talking about gimmicky tracks though. I'm going to explain in my own opinion as to what I think it takes, to build a great track. I will give a detailed account, and step by step instructions on dos and don'ts. A few things that are note worthy first off is to have pen and paper handy at all times. You never know when you get an idea for your track. Sometimes, this could just entail an image flash in your mind, that will then turn into a good idea. This is where the paper comes in handy. Chances are that you will not remember every idea that springs to mind, so get it written down. Like i said at the start, building is a serious game, and you really need to take it this way.Once your in the mindset that your wanting to build, then ideas will come to any person that takes it serious, at any point of time. In fact, for me, once i'm ready, i don't think about anything else hardly.I constantly try to figure out ways to come up with unique or good ideas, as you don't want your track to look like the last one, or anyone else's for that matter.
So, with all this in mind, and remember that this is my opinion, and the way i build. For a start, i always aim to build a true trials track. All this means, is that it looks real. I try to base tracks of things that i think could look like they should in real life. I always start by getting a theme for a track. A theme that i will continue consistently throughout my track so it gives the rider a sense of reality, and depth, and this way they will enjoy that track. This is all based on the track being of medium difficulty too.

Theme.(visual style of track.)

As an example throughout this blog, i will use industry as an example. So lets say for arguments sake, i'm building a Water Treatment Facility. My mind immediately starts to come up with ideas using key words when i think. I also always use the web for ideas. i will search Google images for waterworks, or treatment plants etc. This then gives me images that i can work from. I will spend a good few hours searching images, sketching certain bits on paper, and also add notes.I will turn them notes into a step by step plan of how i'm exactly going to lay the track out then. To some people that might read this, they might think this is going over the top. Well, it isn't. In fact, you will find that this search images technique is used by a majority of the 'Great' builders. After all,its just a visual aid.The theme is a visual style given to a track that the builder follows.Even though there might be different areas that look different. Its an overall look and feel.

2. Checkpoint placement and Area.

Now i have the theme in mind, and i have done some 'research', i now have to decide on my checkpoint placement, and whether or not it is going to have a curve in it. As a rule, and if your new to track building, then i would stick to a straight line.A curve in a line only works if the curve itself is a 'sweet' curve. What i mean is that when you ride the line, then you don't turn sharp all of a sudden. Also, finding a good area in the editors maps is a key thing to me, although not absolutelly needed as you can make your surroundings look like anything you want to.This is by using 'Terrain' mods. Its a tool the a more experienced builder will use often.I will explain more about these in this build tutorial further on. Using checkpoints correctly will also make a track fair, and fun. There is nothing worst than having to repeat a certain part of the track purely because of bad checkpoint placement. Don't allow a track to run for a long time before placing a C.P. down. I always make sure to leave enough space around it too, incase you make a fault and have to start at a given C.P. Keep them on a flat surface where possible, and never leave one floating in mid air. This looks very rushed and tacky.

5. Lighting.

Lighting in a track is a big deal. You can make a track visually look amazing by using good lighting, or absolutely kill it.I always leave the lighting til the end of a track when i'm building, unless i have an absolute picture in my mind of what i'm doing. The only time i started with lighting ,is when i built a snow themed track. I had to get this right first, for the whole track to feel like it was snowing. There are camera filters that can be used too, to get the exact feel and look to a track that you want. I would STRONGLY recommend that getting used to this feature is a must.Mess around, and play with the lighting before you set your track out. Its amazing as to what the light can produce.

4. Constructing obstacles.

There are a few ways to build your 'Driving Line' on a track.D.L. first and decor afterwards, or both together. There isn't one true correct way. What ever your technique though, you should always have variety in your track to make it fun. An example would be to have elevation in your line, and having variety of obstacles throughout. If its going to appeal to all riders, then you need to make it as Varied as possible. I would not recommend it to be flat all the way through. A good way to remember this is to do the 'LICENSE TESTS' in game, and use this as a reminder on how to do different obstacles and to properly set your track difficulty. Another way is to play as many custom tracks as you can.Learn from them. Like i suggested, jot things down on a pad, or on paper. It takes time to think up obstacles that are unique. Building obstacles with good flow to them can be great fun too.Always be aware of checkpoints though. Make sure you place enough of them so the track is still a challenge. To many will spoil it, as will not enough. Good checkpoint placement is a vital key factor in building a good/great track. If not done correctly, then this frustrates the rider, and your track rating will suffer due to this. One last point, is to never randomly place an object that serves no purpose. If your track has flow to it, don't stick a block in your D.L. for the sake of it.Something worth remembering is, "if your objects look like their supposed to be there, then its right." Blend your decoration with the D.L.

5. Physics,logic.....

Its always nice to see physics in tracks, or animation that really accompanies it. Like with the 'waterworks' as the example, seeing pumps operating correctly, water flowing, steam, etc.All these effects will make your track stand out, but again, only if its done in a way that it aids the visual look of the track. It adds depth, and gives the rider the impression that they are actually within the atmosphere your creating.Never go over the top with physics. This can cause issues with 'lag' and will again frustrate the rider. I would never use physics actually on the D.L. as this will do one of 2 things.Slow you down, or make you stop. These are something that you don't want to purposely cause. An elevator is the best example i can use.If you suddenly come across an elevator, then, at some point, you are having to slow down or stop deliberately. If your track has flow all the way up to this point, then it'll make the track less fun. A track doesn't NEED physics or animation in it for it to be a great track. It can help though.

6.Track settings,medal times, etc.

Track settings is where new builders to trials evolution go wrong. They normally set impossible medal times, wrong track difficulty, and wrong bike selection. This is where friends come in. If you have half a dozen friends test your track, they can be of a massive help. They can give their opinions on how the track looks firstly. They can point things out that you might have missed, or just doesn't seem right to them. They can race your track to give you some medal times feedback. If your using 6 friends to test your track, then, their times will be different. If you don't know how to set medal times, then this is a good way to get used to it.Setting achievable, but not to easy platinum times will give your track replayabillity value. I think that if your friends are replaying your track until they get the platinum, then it means they have enjoyed it, and chances are that others will too.
When you have built your track, always make sure that you allow the correct bikes. What this means is, only allow the bikes that can definitely complete the track.Otherwise, whats the point. There is no point in trying to run a track when its obvious that one of the bikes just cant make a jump.

So,this is what i can offer as a tutorial,or tip as to how i build personally, and valuable information that has to be taken into consideration before starting to build. In the next part, i will explore more in depth Answers, and give more reasons as to why i think that this is a MUST know, when building.

Once a week, redlynx put some custom built tracks in a feed on track Central. This particular feed, is called the 'True Trials' picks, or ,Track of the Week as it was once known as.I would say that evry builder out there that takes it serious, wants one of these picks. To get one, your track has to meet to a criteria set by some of the team at redlynx. With it being a ,true trials, track, this means :-

No gimmicks.

Themed on reality.

Well construct and Consistent throughout.

Lightiing has to work.(i.e.shadows need to show correctly).

Driving line has to be fun, interesting ans solid.

No out of place objects, or overlaying of objects used.

If you can meet these criteria set out, then, in my opinion, this is what makes, or should make a track of the week. There is so much competition out there too.The amount of great builders there is , is definately unreal. This is a good thing though. It fills Track Central up with good to great tracks. If theres a community driven custom buiding competition on as well, then its a delight for the trials fans as they have the best tracks to run.I ve always tried to do my best, but its suprising that if you are willing to put the time and effort into building, you naturally get better. You start to learn and understand things more.Getting other trialers opinions and feedback is a great way to learn. In the forum that redlynx have, it is full of helpful trialers, that are willing to help with anything.
So it brings me to this. After just over a year of trying, i got a R.L.Pick this week.I'm made up.To me, a pick is as good as redlynx saying to you that your good enough to build for them.I know this might seem dramatic, but i bet that im not the only person that thinks this way.So redlynx, thankyou for aknowledging my hard work and efforts. It was a pleasure.

Next post will be a tutorial for building a track from start to finish, from my opinion....

YouTubers worth watching.

There are hundreds of Trials Evolution fans out there now that use YouTube as a way to promote their tracks.Since the 'GOLD' on the p.c. more and more have started their own channels as on the p.c. it comes with a built in game option to upload directly to youtube.I know for a fact that this is just 'a honeymoon period' as its a new concept to people. They will soon get bored once they move onto another game, but for those of us that have totally dedicated all our time to build our channels as respectable places to come and watch decent videos, this for the time being has caused losses in views most probably.

I have a motto in life that i like to stick too.' If it ain't broke,Don't fix it.' So, what i,m trying to say is to stick to those that you know do the best work, and that are always reliable with good content, and quality videos.I suppose my purpose for writing this blog is to leave links to the best channels on YouTube, that have regular content uploaded. There are a heck of alot of the trials community that take their YouTube channels very seriously indeed. They are very proffesional in the ways and manners that they work with their channels.I too am like this.Once i commit to something, i like to put 110% in, and no less.Whats the point in doing something half, hearted..Below are a few YouTubers who i consider friends, and Who i recommend watching, purely because of quality and quantity..

So, now the anniversary has been and gone, and with trials evolution now out on P.C., its left a few xbox users only asking whats next? Are we going to get a DLC at some point? Have we been put on hold now?? Well, these are a couple of the many questions and worries of the true, die hard fans of the game that are still motivated to build tracks and to run them. I must admit, that, when Trials evolution GOLD came out for the P.C., made me turn very jealous. I Was jealous at the fact that GOLD was getting all the attention from RedLynx, and I felt abandond. What a strange thing to happen, and over a computer game. This is why a lot of the, vets, of trials say that trials isn't just a game, its a life style. I totally get that now. Its also because I feel I've built up a good friendship with a few of the team, and many friends with the forum. I suppose I thought it was all going to stop. So, this got me thinking.

"What can I do to inject some life back into trials on the xbox, and try to keep people interested." My answer was something I've been working on for the past 6 months or so. I figured that if i had a Hauppauge P.V.R, then I could do videos, as well as live stream. But, I couldn't afford one with having a family. I entered a lot of competitions, but with no luck. Then, its as if the gods were looking down on me that week because a twitter buddy, (@mattshotcha), decided to give his slightly used P.V.R away, but as a competition. He wanted people that were interested to send in a video of why they should win. The video had to include game play footage, and it could be from any device, phones included. I had an advantage here as I used an I-Pod to record my videos at first, and moved onto windows live movie maker. I put something together, Sent it to him, and 3 weeks later, got a tweet saying I had won. This all happened just last week. I'm buzzing for it to come. I have got my twitch TV account up to date, and have asked a few guys from the forum to join in doing some videos. In actual fact, its gone one better than that as we are going to do a community type channel now. Tutorials, speed-builds, Guest star Q N As, partying up with some members on different occasions......Its going to be a lot of fun. So, from feeling so low, to feeling on top of the world, all I can say is, "It just keeps getting better."

Also, there's more to come.
Thank you to all that put up with me in a cool manner these last few months.Special thank you to my wingman (MR B).

Anniversary.

Its coming up to 1 year since trials was released. For me, this has brought me nothing but good things. I knew i would love the game, and so my year began.
In April of 2012 there was a real buzz in the Redlynx forums. The release of trials evolution was here. The follow up to the best arcade game title of trials HD, Evo was a totally different concept to its younger brother. This time, riders could ride outside in an open 3d world. We could do so much more in the editor too.Different tools to learn, different bikes to ride, etc..Such a gorgeous looking game too, with graphics and physics to match any other biking game available on console.

The community that is trials were on a real high. The biggest feature in my opinion was the track building editor, and what it was capable of doing.Straight away, people were building mind blowing tracks that every one could play because of the track central.Track central was another anticipated feature that people were looking forward to, in abundance, and purely because you weren,t limited to just your friends lists custom tracks. At first, i totally found the editors tools very over whelming. I took it upon myself to dig in, and to make sure to get to now every inch of the editor. Still, a year on, i think im 90% knowledged as to what does what in the editor..There are still a few things i do not understand, but if i have to play and learn it in another years time, then that is what i will do.

Being a massive fan of the game, i joined the Redlynx community and quickly became a fan of there's too.I joined the forum 3 years ago, but its been the last 15 months that i have been using it on a daily basis. The people from the 'community' are very professional, and take the game really seriously. There are many numbers on there that will help you in the drop of a hat.I like to think that I am one of these people. If i can help, i will. With this sort of attitude, it has made the redlynx forum stand out from others. All members of the trials team offer whatever they can too. They have given all sorts of goodies away to various members, and for a variety of reasons. This has not been without controversy though. The T.F. award has been one of the most disputed things that Redlynx have done in some peoples eyes. This T.F. ( TRUE FAN ) was given to players that the dev's' and team considered going above and beyond for the game and for the community.Up to date, there have been just 30 odd given out.Everyone feels as if they deserve it, is the impression iv'e got from the reactions.I was lucky enough to get one, and at first, alot of members that have been around for longer than myself, really disliked this fact.I can totally see why as Trials is very time consuming. It was a truly great time, that was horribly rail roaded by a minority of others. A massive award in terms of being a trials evo' player, but at the cost of many an argument within the forum.I totally am proud to have my T.F.and always will be.For a gaming company to single me out as being a person that goes above and beyond for the good of the game and community is a big deal to me.This would be the same for anyone in my shoes. I will always treasure that moment.
All this said, that is really the only sour inncedent to hit the beloved Trials community. Redlynx have started to give the 'wrench' award to the great builders of tracks that there is.There are more to come as well.To earn this award, its like as Redlynx are saying that your tracks are good enough to be in the game. Im certain the holders of this award feel as proud as what i do.Good luck to them all.
Most members of the community, or trialers as i like to call them, are very decent and gracious people. There is of course the minority that are apart of many forums, that set out to cause trouble. This type of gamer are soon dealt with.If its not other trialers putting them in their place, then the moderators will.If they dont, then the community manager and good friend of mine, the notorious shiftysamurai would soon sort them out in his usual manner.
I have also, in this past year, made so many good friends.I knew a few since HD, but trials EVO brought new people to the forum, and in turn, chances of meeting some good friends.I would say that 80% of the community are age 25+. This suits me, as i am 40 myself. At least i can relate to others, and share similar things in life.Trials being the main one.Just before the first DLC came out, the origins of pain, i spent many a night til stupid o'clock in parties with other trialers having a riot.So many great nights trialing and generally having a laugh. You would be supprised at how a group of over 30's can be once they get together.Just like when the game was released, the DLC brought a massive buzz around the community. It surely was an epic time. The quality of tracks that people made were unbelievable. If you are into trials, then you will know what i mean.I used to ask myself as to how it was possible that these people were making these tracks. The amount of talent in track making that is out there is alot higher than i first thought would be.The numbers are really high.I think it was the fact that due to track central, this feature of the game brought new people to trials alone. In trials HD, you could only share tracks with people on your friends list, but track central is an open sharing system that is with in the game. You build a track, then you share it to anyone that plays Evo. It was a ground breaking feature i thought. A door opener for so many builders that weren't recognised for their talent at all. It was only a matter of time before other people, and especially the community got to know just who these people were. This also attracted these people to join the Forum. Its been a busy period this last year, that's for sure.
To summaries, within 12 months of playing Trials evolution daily,i have built and shared 20+ tracks myself, and i have built up my youtube channel from 7 subscribers to over 100 now.I have also got a dedicated facebook page that i add content to weekly.I started this blogg, and google alike.I also started a twitter account that i use daily to keep in touch with trials friends.I also have my prestegious True Fan award that i will always cherish.I got a Trials Hoodie, and the much sort after Flag.I 'starred ' on a redlynx TV picks episode with another good friend, cannibal shogun who i keep in contact with still. To anyone that plays evo, they will see this as a big deal.Well guys, i do.More a massive deal.I do consider myself lucky, that's for sure.
So, if you see why people play just one game on xbox, and that totally love that game, then this is probably some of the reasons why.I hope to do another 12 months, because there are still a few things i want to earn from Evo, and that i also want to contribute to as well. So, Happy Birthday Redlynx Trials Evo. This has certainly been a mad year, that is going to be part of my legacy in life.Respect to you, and respect to all friends of the game, and community members alike.....

My missus,The trials fan.

I feel so lucky that my missus of 15 years puts up with my love for trials evolution. As a 40 year old, i never thought that i would still be playing on computers. Its not so much the console, but more the game.Since games started to emerge, and come with a built in custom editor, i totally feel that they started off a whole new craze of gamer's.All gamer's that like these custom editors are, in my opinion, talented and artistic people. Its another way for us to express ourselves in the comfort of our homes. But where and when does this stop?

As i said, i have a brilliant partner that even tests my trials evo' tracks in the way of watching me build, then give her opinion..9 times out of 10 , she gets it spot on..Things i don't see in the driving line, or a certain way i layed out an obstacle. She has an opinion on everything to do with building.Even though she has never touched the editor herself..Shes my best, worst critic.I hate her telling me to change something, and after a days arguing, i end up changing it to what she had suggested..But, is this the rough end of a relationship with kids..I beg the question. The more i'm building at this point in time, the more i seem to get out of it.My partner gets neglected too..I would never put up with this.I must just have the perfect woman.

This turned out to be the name of the trials evo track, or game, that i have just finished.Unfortunately, due to the complex coding invloved, once i released it, i found that there was issues in the game that i had not addressed properly. It doesnt matter though because having already spent 60+ hours on this, then whats a few more to get it right.I have asked for it to be removed as its a broken game, and im going to concentrate again on it later tonight.I have a full book of blanc paper, so as i go along slowly, from left to right, i will jot down all that needs doing correctly..Every major part of the coding does actually work..All the betting system is correct. The random winning car was my best learning curve.I was given a code by a friend that would randomise 1 car from the others. This car was going to be the winner. There was a problem....All other cars finished past the finish line together after the first placed car..I didnt want it like this. So, i took some finishing times, that were not the same as the winners finishing times, and randomised them 5 times..i then took a set value event to take a number from an ever randomising tile, so that each of the cars would cross the finish at different times..I did it..and, it was/is successful every time..So this isnt the issues im having..Its daft, stupid little things that i should have took more care over..A lesson learnt...

As a track creator/builder, i consider myself as being a medium difficulty, slight technical lines with flow.Iv'e never actually made an extreme, and iv'e never thought about making any tracks as easy or beginner. As you progress, and get better through gaining experience, and learning lessons from each track you create, there comes a time when you just feel like doing something different. Its like a challenge, but a challenge for yourself. My last track was a 'hard' rated track. This was purely because i made a Donkey only track, and some of the obstacles were rather tricky.I had to mark it as hard, because some people would have really struggled with a few parts in my Drive-Line.I was happy with the outcome.I really used the complexity bar to its maximum, as i added loads of animation in the track. My theme was a subway, and there were platforms that had the train lines running in between them..All the lines were electrically charged, and i also had trains running down the lines..I still felt like a challenge once this track was released, then gone as is the case with every track that ever gets released..

I had an idea for a skill game last year, but was no way able to pull it off due to my lack of knowledge using the logic involved..Im now 90% sure of the editor, and have decided to start to make a skill game..Its actually more of a fun game. When i was younger, and fairgrounds visited my town, i always remember a coin machine, that you would bet on horses with 2 pence pieces. It was called, THE DERBY.
I have started to build something similar to this in the trials evolution editor. I'm putting a twist in it though.Instead of horses, i'm using cars. Its very early stages yet. Iv'e managed to build the arena, set the track out with the cars.I have also started to put my knowledge of logic into the track straight from the off..Hopefully, i will be able to have the game play where as the player will be able to make a bet or two,per turn, and at different odds. This is where it gets tricky. There is alot of maths and equations involved in a betting system to work properly, whether its real life or especially a computer game..So, i have set the bar really high for myself. If i manage to succeed, i will teach myself, and learn from others a heck of alot of how computers work to give images etc..I will re-post another blog as soon as its complete..The game will be called DERBY DAY. I don't know when it will be released, but i'm confident, and i'm motivated..Fingers crossed..
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07361081697082797533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7787833295370961636.post-63550881596512287782013-03-23T05:17:00.000+00:002013-05-15T11:18:11.202+01:00Trials Evolution building competition
